Moc Bai - Bavet
Border Travelers can enter
Cambodia from Vietnam by land and vice versa. The exit point of Vietnam is
called "Moc Bai" and the entry point of Cambodia is "Bavet".
 The best starting point in Vietnam is Ho
Chi Minh City (or Saigon). You can rent a private car or get the shared taxi or
bus to Moc Bai. After passing through all the formalities of both sides, you
have to take another car or shared taxi on the Cambodian side into Cambodia,
mostly to Phnom Penh. The traveling distance to Phnom Penh from Saigon is about
150 km.
Just a warning that your Vietnam Visa
should state "Moc Bai" as one of your entry/exit port in Vietnam in order to
avoid any complication that you may have with the Vietnamese Immigration at the
border. You can get this "Moc Bai" stated on your Vietnam visa, simply by
writing it down on the visa form during your visa application and check properly
if the consulates do not miss it out or make any mistake.
Unlike Poipet and Koh Kong Border, you
cannot get the Cambodia visa at the Bavet border (at least at the time of this
writing). You should get it at the Royal Cambodia Embassy in your country or in
Vietnam before your departure. The visa fee is as usual US$ 20 per person with 1
Passport-sized photo.
