China Donates SARS Prevention Appliances to Cambodia

The Chinese government Wednesday handed over a consignment of appliances for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) prevention to the Cambodian government.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, Ning Fukui and Cambodian Minister of Health Hong Sun Hout Wednesday signed the document of delivery of the appliances on the behalf of their respective governments.

The appliances which cost 45,000 US$ included portable thermometers, protective clothing and protective masks. The appliances will be used to enforce the Cambodia's preventive measures against the SARS epidemic.

On this occasion, the Cambodia's Health Minister expressed his thankfulness on behalf of the Cambodian government to China and said with this assistance, the Ministry of Health would be able to effectively prevent SARS epidemic in the country as well as to contribute in preventing SARS spread in the region and in the whole world.

In return, the representative of China reciprocated his appreciation of the donation of 10,000 dollars to the Chinese government from King Norodom Sihanouk to support China's fight against SARS. He also assured that the equipments would play an important role in Cambodia's SARS preventions and added that the friendship between the tow countries would be enhanced through their joint effort to combat the spread of SARS.
