diplomats back to Cambodia Issued: 10 February 2003 Thai diplomats have returned to Cambodia to re-establish their mission in Phnom Penh, nearly two weeks after their embassy was stormed by the anti-Thai protesters. The Thai charge d'affaires, Kosit Chatpaiboon with a33-member of delegation returned to Cambodia and met Cambodian cabinet minister shortly after arrival. During the demonstration, the Thai embassy was burned down and many Thai-owned businesses were destroyed. Officials from both sides said that they hoped to put the incident behind them and tried to seek the common ground for the sake of normalization between them. Regarding a further improvement of relations between the two countries, Thailand partially reopened its border on February 8, allowing Cambodian villagers to make day trips into Thai territory to buy food and other basic items. Reports also say that the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh is being rebuilt.
