Cambodian King Narodom Sihanouk sends a communique to King Bhumipol of Thailand, expressing his deep sorry for the violence and a sincere desire to rehabilitate relations. Following the anti-Thai riots in Phnom Penh last month, Thai government closed it border with Cambodia, downgraded diplomatic ties and evacuated hundreds of its citizens from Cambodia. The apology from the Cambodian King leads to King Bhumipol's suggestion for Thai government to mend relations with Cambodia.
"The government should take this (the apology) into consideration" said Thaksin Shinwatra, Prime Minister of Thailand.
