border re-opened, but normalized ties to wait Issued: 23 March 2003
Earlier of the week of talks, Cambodian government has paid 5.92 million US$ to Thailand for damaged of Thai embassy in Phnom Penh during the anti-Thai riots on January 29. The payment covers only damages of the embassy, not including the Thai-owned businesses also destroyed during the violence. Separate talks over compensation for Thai businesses are underway.
