Iris Corporation Bhd, smart card specialist from Malaysia will sponsor the installation of two passport auto-gate systems which will convert 5,000 Cambodian passports to chip-based ones. The e-passport technology would be applied within the next 90 days at Cambodia's Pochentong Airport beginning with diplomatic and official passports.

The Malaysian smart card specialist has pioneered e-passports, and the introduction of e-passports to Cambodia is a good start for planting their foot in ASEAN region.

The e-passport is deemed to see its great success in Cambodia, allowing more efficiency and commodity to the procedure of immigrating documents.
