NEW ENTRANCE PROCEDURE FOR TEMPLES IN SIEM REAP

Reported:  Meng Hieng

Issue:  4 July 00

The Apsara Authority has introduced a new laminated entrance ticket for the ruins, which will include a picture of the tourist from now on. This was done to prevent the misuse of the old entrance tickets, which were being "recycled", resold and reused. With the inclusion of the picture identification, such misuse is now impossible (we hope) and it can be made sure that no entrance fees, which are needed for the maintenance and restoration of the temples are lost or diverted.

At the moment there is a picture taking service (free of charge) available at the check-point, but we recommend you to advise your clients to bring an extra passport-sized picture with them to speed up the pass-issuance process. This is especially valid and helpful for your group bookings in order to avoid long waits.

Current rates:

1-Day pass: USD20.-

Max. 3-Days pass: USD40.-

Max. 7-Days pass USD 60.-

Also, please remember that it is allowed to visit the ruins on the arrival day AFTER 4 pm as long as you purchase the entrance pass starting on the next day. Means you can "stretch" a 1-Day pass to a sunset visit plus one full day, and the same with the other passes.
